Here's what hit me today...
Two things from Mark 10.
The first is Jesus interaction with the rich man.
The rich man thinks He has it all together. Then Jesus states the one more thing he has to do.
The man's reaction?
22 At this the man’s face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions.
This causes me to ask, "What's the one more thing I refuse to release from my grip to fully follow Jesus?"
The second is Jesus interaction with the blind man.
Jesus asks a question--
51“What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked.
The blind man's response is straightforward, "I want to see!"
What would you say if Jesus were to ask you, “What do you want me to do for you?”
Would your answer be as definitive as blind Bartimaeus?
So, in this passage we have two great springboards for a meaningful time of prayer:
Either spend time with Jesus, and ask yourself the question, "What's my one more thing that keeps me from fully following Jesus?"
Or spend time with Jesus, and let Him ask you the question, “What do you want me to do for you?”
By the way, don't miss what the text says about how Jesus felt about the rich man--
21Looking at the man, Jesus felt genuine love for him.
