Little reprieve today...only one chapter from an Epistle.
Mark 9 contains a verse that has been working on me this year.
I have added it to a list of things I pray nearly daily.
A man brings his son who is afflicted by an evil spirit to be released from bondage by Jesus.
In the conversation, Jesus says to the man that, “Anything is possible if a person believes.”
The man gives an incredible response:
“I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!”
Isn't that the way faith works? I believe, totally, completely. Now, make up for the rest of me that doubts!
It is a refreshingly honest prayer. It is transparent and real.
This is the prayer of earth-bound humans who knows there is a God and a heaven, yet finds is or her feet attached to planet earth.
Try it. Spend some time praying this prayer to God over the seemingly impossible issues of your life:
“I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!”
